Nervous about attending therapy or just curious about what to expect?
I've provided some information below to familarise yourself with Inner Meadow Pscychology

What is psychology?
Psychology is the scientific study of how we think, feel, and behave — and how these experiences are shaped by our biology, environment, relationships, and life history.
In a therapeutic context, psychology provides evidence-based approaches to understanding emotional challenges, supporting mental health, and promoting personal growth. It helps people make sense of their experiences, develop coping strategies, and work through difficulties such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, or relationship issues.
Working with a psychologist offers a safe, professional space to explore your inner world, build insight, and move toward lasting change and wellbeing.

What happens in sessions?
Your first therapy session at Inner Meadow Psychology is a space to begin building rapport and helping you feel comfortable and supported. During this session — and often across the first few sessions — we’ll undertake a clinical interview to develop a clear understanding of your current challenges, strengths, coping strategies, and relevant history.
This process typically includes exploring early life experiences and family of origin, which are important elements in many of the therapies used at the practice, such as EMDR, Schema Therapy, and Parts Work.
From this shared understanding, we’ll develop a case formulation — a kind of road map that helps make sense of what may be contributing to your current concerns and what supports your resilience. Together, we’ll use this to co-create a tailored treatment plan that guides the work going forward.
In subsequent sessions, therapy is responsive to your individual goals and needs. Sessions may include talk therapy as well as experiential techniques such as imagery, mindfulness, or, where appropriate, EMDR, which incorporates bilateral stimulation (usually eye movements) to help process distressing memories and experiences.
Throughout, therapy is a collaborative process — one where your experiences, insights, and goals remain central.
